In November of 2015 VNA Health at Home celebrated its 125th anniversary. As the fifth longest-running home care agency in the Unites States, VNA Health at Home has positively contributed and impacted the health care industry, decade after decade.
Originally founded in 1890 in Louisville, KY as King's Daughters Association of Louisville, the focus on care was on expectant mothers, as well as babies who were in need of clean milk. In 1915 the Daughters Association of Louisville transitioned to the District Nurse Associate in cooperation with the National Public Health Nursing Association. Then in the late 1930s the organization became the Visiting Nurse Association (VNA). As one of the first agencies in the nation to be certified under Medicare, VNA continued to provide care to those in need, regardless of their ability to pay.
Nazareth Home Care, established by the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, a community of Catholic nuns in Bardstown, KY, merged with VNA in the 1980s to form VNA Nazareth Home Care.
In December 2015, VNA Nazareth Home Care along with its local sister home care and hospice agencies, St. Joseph Home Care in Lexington, KY, Seton Home Health and Tri-County Hospice in London, KY and Hospice of Nelson County in Bardstown, KY changed its name to KentuckyOne Health VNA Health at Home to create a stronger, more unified structure for all services provided as part of the KentuckyOne Health system.
VNA Health at Home is the largest home care provider in the Commonwealth, serving over 30 counties throughout Kentucky and six throughout southern Indiana. As a long-standing member of the community, and one of the highest rated home health providers, VNA Health at Home is committed to moving beyond exceptional medicine to exceptional health and is dedicated to bringing wellness, healing and hope to all. Looking at future of health care, we will continue to transform the health care communities and the delivery of care so individuals and families can enjoy the best of health and wellbeing.
