Comprehensive Cardiology Evaluation and Treatment

KentuckyOne Health Cardiology Associates, located on the Jewish Hospital Shelbyville campus, work hand in hand with patients and hospital clinicians to provide comprehensive evaluation, referral and medical treatment for patients with heart disease and related conditions. Our cardiologists work closely with Jewish Hospital Shelbyville Sleep Care to evaluate sleep apnea patients for possible heart disease and refer to the KentuckyOne Health Weight Loss Surgery to help patients establish a healthy, balanced life. Each evaluation is individualized based on the needs of the patient. This personalized approach addresses every aspect of a patient's life, from current medical condition to lifestyle modifications and education. Our goal is the complete wellness of each and every patient.

The heart care team at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville recognizes the needs of every patient we see. We care about your heart. We care about you.

Cardiac Stress Testing

If your physician feels you need a stress test to diagnose or rule out a heart problem, stress testing is available. We provide the following stress testing services: plain stress tests, Cardiolite stress tests and pharmacological (medication) stress tests. The type of test you may need is ordered by your physician depending on if you are able to walk on a treadmill and medications you are on. A cardiologist and a nurse or technician will be present with all of these types of tests.

As indicated, your provider office will schedule you for needed procedures. For questions or more information, contact us at 502.647.4275.

Outpatient Cardiology Services

Jewish Hospital Shelbyville has sophisticated diagnostic equipment to evaluate your heart health. Our experienced diagnostic staff have years of experience. They understand what is foremost on our patients' minds and will do their best to make all of our patients as comfortable as possible during their tests.

Most of our tests can be performed during a single outpatient visit. A cardiologist and a nurse or technician will be present with all of these types of tests.

Non-invasive tests performed at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville include:

  • Echocardiogram (echo) - This test uses sound waves to produce a study of the motion of the heart's valves and chambers. The echo sound waves create an image on a monitor as an ultrasound transducer is passed over the heart.
  • Stress Test - Electrical activity of the heart is measured through electrodes that you wear while exercising. This test measures how well the heart performs during exercise.
  • Nuclear Stress Test - Similar to a traditional stress test, a nuclear stress test makes use of a radioactive dye that shows how well the blood flows into the heart muscle at rest and shortly after exercise.
  • Pharmacological Nuclear Test - For patients who cannot exercise, this stress test makes use of medication to simulate how well the blood flows into the heart muscle during after a period of exertion.
  • Electrocardiogram (EKG) - This test measures the electrical activity/rhythm of the heart.
  • Holter Monitor - 24 Hour monitoring device that patients wear home and return for review by a cardiologist. The device monitors cardiac rhythms to find irregularities and determine if further testing is needed.
