Jewish Hospital Shelbyville, part of KentuckyOne Health, is located on the Colonel Harland D. Sanders Medical Campus just 30 minutes east of downtown Louisville. For more than 110 years, the community hospital has served as a vital community resource to residents of Shelby, Henry and Spencer counties and offers a full range of comprehensive services including:
The hospital has greatly benefited from the generous support of the Colonel Harland D. Sanders Foundation. Recently, the Jewish Hospital & St. Mary’s Foundation was awarded a $200,000 gift from the Sanders Foundation to help enhance the quality and speed of emergency care at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville. With this funding, the hospital created a more effective, patient-friendly registration area, expanded triage and made improvements to patient flow.
This was the third gift Jewish Hospital Shelbyville has received from the Sanders Foundation. In 2007, the organization donated $1 million to expand and update the hospital’s emergency department. At that time, they created a memorial statue of Colonel Harland Sanders that now welcomes patients and guests at the hospital entrance. In the late 1990’s, the organization donated $250,000 to improve the hospital’s medical imaging capabilities. Colonel Sanders and his wife, Claudia, were residents of Shelby County and considered Jewish Hospital Shelbyville their hometown hospital of choice.
In 2017, the hospital completed a $1.8 million infrastructure and equipment investment project, thanks to the generosity of Catholic Health Initiatives. The project included new surgical, cardiology and stroke care equipment as well as an interior refresh of patient rooms and lobby areas.
