Jewish Hospital Shelbyville Achieves Sleep Center Accreditation with ACHC
Shelbyville, Ky. (May 24, 2018) - Jewish Hospital Shelbyville has recently achieved accreditation by the Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC) for sleep center services.
Jewish Hospital Shelbyville has been providing sleep diagnostic care to the community for more than 15 years. “As we expanded our hospital’s sleep services, we felt the time was right to pursue this specialized accreditation,” said Annessa Baker, site executive and chief nursing officer for Jewish Hospital Shelbyville. “Achieving this distinction from the Accreditation Commission for Health Care is just another assurance to our community they can access the very best in sleep care right here at home.”
During the accreditation process, healthcare organizations demonstrate compliance with national standards. Accreditation by ACHC reflects an organization’s dedication and commitment to meeting standards that facilitate a higher level of performance and patient care. ACHC is a not-for-profit organization that has stood as a symbol of quality and excellence since 1986.
Recently, the hospital expanded sleep diagnostics services and added an onsite sleep clinic led by Josephine Mei, MD. Dr. Mei is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Diseases and Sleep Medicine, and serves as medical director for JHS sleep services. A private practitioner with Kentuckiana Pulmonary Associates, Dr. Mei received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from John Hopkins University and Doctor of Medicine from the University of Miami School of Medicine. She has completed several post-doctoral internships and fellowships, has been honored by numerous organizations, and most recently named a “Top Doc” for the second year by Louisville Magazine.
