Children’s and Adolescents’ Treatment

The National Institute of Mental Health reports that in the U.S. today, one in ten children suffer from a mental disorder severe enough to cause some level of impairment. At Peace, we help diagnose and treat children and adolescents with these types of disorders in order to help them, and their families, strengthen their relationships and improve their lives. We help children and adolescents with problems such as depression, anxiety, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), oppositional behavior, bipolar disorder, unresolved grief and trauma, and substance abuse, as well as other psychiatric, chemical dependency and dual diagnosis disorders. Treatment is provided at various levels of care including inpatient, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programming in environments and with programming tailored to meet the needs and preferences of these age groups.

Innovations Programs for Patients with Developmental Disabilities

This nationally recognized, state-of-the-art treatment center within Our Lady of Peace offers a program for children and adolescents with a dual diagnosis of a psychiatric disorder plus an underlying developmental disability, such as intellectual disabilities, autism or a brain injury and other related conditions. The focus of treatment is to decrease challenging behaviors through function based behavioral interventions designed to teach and reinforce more appropriate social and communication skills.

"My daughter has learned to control her emotions much better. We were worried she would have to go to a group home, but after acute and extended treatment at Our Lady of Peace, she was able to come home with us." - Parent of Innovations Program Child

Partial Hospitalization - "Crossroads"

This program serves school-age youth who are struggling with emotional and/or behavioral disorders. It provides crisis stabilization when outpatient treatment alone is insufficient or ineffective. For those youth that do not require inpatient treatment, it serves as a step-down program to provide smoother transition back into the community. Our team of professionals include Board Certified Psychiatrists, Licensed Clinicians, Registered Nurses and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. Family participation is strongly recommended.

“I love the Crossroads Program! I love the fact that they really work with all aspects of her behaviors across settings including home, school and relationships with her peers…My daughter not only got a handle on her behaviors, but enjoyed being in the program. I would recommend this program to anyone who is having troubles with his/her child and wants them to be in a safe, supportive environment while getting help.”  - Parent of pt Jasmine

Pastoral Care

  • An integral part of the treatment philosophy at Our Lady of Peace is the recognition that the healing of the body, mind and spirit are all necessary to a healthy life. To this end, we offer spiritual care through the Pastoral Care Program as part of an individual’s treatment plan. Services that are offered include chaplaincy services, worship opportunities, spirituality groups, bereavement counseling, and pastoral care for individual and family therapy. Any individual in treatment at Our Lady of Peace may request Pastoral Care Program services by speaking with his/her attending physician.

“I wanted to go to a worship service and I did. It helped me! I loved the music there especially.”
