- Saint Joseph Health System Receives $250,000 Grant
- Saint Joseph Health System has been awarded a $250,000 grant funded by the federal government's Social Innovation Fund and the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky. Saint Joseph Health System will use its grant to establish primary-care clinics in Powell and Wolfe counties.
These satellite clinics will be staffed by nurse practitioners and will utilize telemedicine technology to collaborate with physicians and specialists located at a central location. The clinics will provide more than 3,200 practice visits during the first year of operation, and are projected to grow to more than 7,000 annual visits in three years. By improving access to care in these low-income, rural communities, Saint Joseph Health System aims to improve general health status and chronic disease management, in particular.
